About Blackbutt Engineered Flooring

Blackbutt (Eucalyptus pilularis) is a tall native Australian hardwood found predominantly along the eastern coast of Australia, from Queensland through to New South Wales. It is one of the most popular domestic timber flooring species in the country, chosen for its warm, consistent tone, moderate colour variation, and excellent hardness rating of 9.1kN on the Janka scale.

The engineered format of Blackbutt Eco combines the authentic appearance of real Blackbutt hardwood with the dimensional stability of a multi-ply plywood core — making it suitable for installation over concrete slab subfloors and compatible with the seasonal humidity variations experienced across Sydney and Brisbane. Unlike solid Blackbutt, which can cup or gap in variable moisture conditions, engineered Blackbutt performs reliably year-round.

Installation

Blackbutt Eco 14mm can be installed using either a direct stick (glue-down) or floating method over a suitable subfloor. For installations over concrete, the subfloor must be flat, dry, and within acceptable moisture tolerance.
